Lagna (ascendant) calculator
The lagna is the sign rising on the eastern horizon at the moment of birth. It fixes the twelve houses of your kundli, so it needs the birth time.
Why the birth time matters
The ascendant moves through all twelve signs in a day — about one degree every four minutes. If your lagna sits within a degree of the edge, a few minutes of error in the recorded time can change it, and the calculator tells you so. Sidereal Lahiri; ascendant verified on 2,000 random skies to lie exactly on the eastern horizon (accuracy report).
Questions
Is lagna the same as the rising sign?
Yes, but in the sidereal zodiac. A Western rising sign is usually one sign later than the Vedic lagna.
I don’t know my birth time. Can I find my lagna?
Not reliably — it changes every two hours or so. KundliNova’s birth-time rectification by life events is planned.
